A night at work almost turned deadly for 24-year-old Adrian Perrera. The gas station attendant was at Puma Gas Station on Freetown Road on Saturday night when, around 7:00, he was shot and robbed of an undisclosed amount of money.
While Perrera survived the attempt on his life, his sister, Angela Lopez, told us that he is angry and shocked that something like this would happen to him. She told us about the moment when she received the news.

"I just get a call from the work, wah call weh I neva expect fi hear, coming from work, cause he dah no somebody weh hangout or nowhere, he go dah work and make ih money and go home. So I neva expect fi hear fi hear that. He the run from hanging out fi make ih no have to end up in this same gun violence thing and bam, it happen dah ih work. It mih really shocking. Ih get shot ina ih back. Right now ih stable but ah gwen back dah docta right now fi find out exactly when he wa do the surgery fi remove the bullet cause the bullet is still in his back."
"I always have concerns about him, sometimes when ih take long fi come home, we wouldah try wait up, look out, you know, cause done know ih deh far from weh paat ih live, weh paat ih the work. He neva concern cause he neva fraid, he no think nobody wah come, something like that couldah eva happen to ah."
His employer could not comment.
Police told us that they have surveillance video - which will be reviewed. Deputy Head of National Crimes Investigation Hilberto Romero gave us the basic facts:

"Investigation reveal that Adrian Perrera was at the gas station attending to a customer when a male person approached him with a firearm and demanded money. A struggled ensued after which Perrera fell to the pavement. He was then shot by the culprit. Some money fell on the pavement and the culprit retrieve the money and made good his escape thereafter."
Police have no suspects at this time.
