Tonight, Police in Punta Gorda continue to look into an alleged break-in at the PG Free-zone, in which a duty-free liquor store was burglarized. The thief or thieves reportedly got away with over 60,000 dollars in cash, and an assortment of liquor.
The management of the store named Mayan Duty and Tax-Free, opened up this morning and realized that just over 30,000 US dollars, 1,000 Belize dollars, and several bottles of liquor were stolen. Of important note is that this liquor store is located on the Border Management compound, which is controlled by the customs and immigration.
