We've already told you about the murder in the city - and while that one was probably the result of gang warfare - no one knows for sure what was behind an early morning murder in Corozal.

40-year-old Rigoberto Rosado was shot and killed in his yard this morning. It happened at around 4:30 a.m. in the village of Ranchito - just outside Corozal town.

This morning CTV3 spoke to the victim's brother Jaime who told them that he woke up to the sound of gunshots and looked outside to see his brother crying out in pain.

Voice of: Jaime Alfonso Rosado, Brother of the Deceased
"At around 4:00 in the morning I heard the dogs barking and barking and barking and I looked at my phone and it was already four so I said it's Rigo who's walking out there, he's going to make his lunch since he works in Cero San, so I said he's getting up to make his lunch so that he can go to work. But at the same moment, I heard them open the door and I heard that they opened the door and I heard the shots. A noise like if they were brandishing a machete on the wall but not a new machete, an old machete."

"When I heard that I heard that I hear someone crying and when I opened the window I saw the person who hurt my brother riding away on a bike but my brothers recognized exactly who it was."

"My nephew began to scream what happened uncle, what happened, and I came out with a t-shirt that we put on my brother to create pressure."

"We called the police and they didn't arrive until around 5 in the morning, like an hour later."

Rosales was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital and later to the Orange Walk Northern Regional where he succumbed to his injuries.
