And while no one was convicted for Ahmad's killing, a teenager has been charged for the murder of 37-year-old Darwin Chavarria in Punta Gorda. The 15-year-old was arrested in the presence of his mother today.
It's a shock to the community, and to Chavarria's family, that a teen was allegedly responsible for the death of their father, husband, brother, and son. When we spoke to his aunt last week, she said that the house had been ransacked, and Chavarria's shoes were found strewn across the floor. She speculated that the assailant had dragged her nephew out of the home barefoot. The killer would then have presumably taken the car parked in front of Chavarria's home to carry him a few miles outside of PG, tie him up, shoot him, dump his body, and torch the vehicle - an elaborate and ruthless crime - of which this 15 year old is now accused.
Chavarria was killed on December 16, and his body was found the next day on Water Hole Road after his family had reported him missing. His aunt also believed he was being monitored closely, as the killer also waited for him to be alone.
Police have not stated a motive for this crime as yet.
