The press also asked the Commissioner to share details about an incident last night in which one of his police teams was assaulted by a mob at the Pickstock Street hutment in Belize City, which is known as "Jungle".
It started at around 7:40 p.m. when a support team from Police Precinct 3 was chasing a white car. They detained the driver, but it appears that residents from the "Jungle" became incensed and started stoning the police. The officers had to resort to firing warning shots, and one of those rubber bullets ricocheted and hit 22-year-old Joshua Flowers to the mouth and right hand. He had to be taken to the hospital for those injuries.
Here's what the Commissioner told the media this morning:
Reports are that one of the rubber bullets also injured an 11-year-old female minor, who was not taken to the KHMH.
