In other police news, a woman was tied up inside her own San Ignacio home and robbed of her vehicle yesterday morning. Most alarming though is that police believe the perpetrators to have come from across the border. ACP Joseph Myvett gave us more details.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head NCIB

"Yesterday morning sometime around 9am San Ignacio police were called to the home of one Lilian Avilez in the Shawville area of San Ignacio Town where she reported to the police that sometime around 8:30am while she was at home, she had exited her home to retrieve something from her vehicle which was parked in the yard when she was approached by five armed male persons, one of dark complexion and four Hispanic, all wearing long sleeved shirts and masks and they entered her home where it was ransacked and she was also bounded during the process and a number of items were stolen and thereafter those persons then took her grey Amarok vehicle and made good their escape in that vehicle. Surveillance footage have shown that that vehicle left through the Santa Rosa Road towards the Guatemalan border sometime around 9am yesterday morning. We are in communication with our Guatemalan counterparts in relation to this investigation."
