Earlier this month, we told you about the strange shooting incident in which an off-duty police officer fired gunshots at a private vehicle, and ended up hitting a civilian passenger.

As we reported, the cop has been identified Detective Constable Darnell Garcia. He reported that he felt as though he was under some sort of attack, but it was simply a family in a private car. An innocent, 20-year-old female was injured.

When we asked the ComPol about the case 2 weeks ago, you'll remember how he huffed out of the interview after insisting that the family didn't want to take criminal action against the cop.

When we asked about the case today, he told us that the family appears to have decided that they want to press charges. Here's what the ComPol had to say about the case today:

Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police
"I think I was briefed over the weekend that the persons in questions, the complainants, are now cooperating and are requesting court action. I have yet to see the proof of that, but that's what I was told. And, if that's what they're requesting now, then we'll see how we proceed with the matter from there."

If and when the cop is charged and arraigned, we'll tell you about it.

Teacher Threat Update

Earlier in the news, we told you how police had arrested and charged a teacher for allegedly inciting violence against ministers.

He was speaking to his colleagues in one of the branches of the BNTU, and police intelligence picked up on those messages.

Well, shortly after our story aired, sources contacted us to report that the teacher was taken before a magistrate. He was arraigned on the offense of threatening words, but reports are that the charge was dismissed because there was no complainant on record. We are informed that he can also face a cyberbullying charge. If a complainant comes forward he will be rearrested.
