And there was another house fire in Jalacte Village but this time, it was a case of arson. The owner of the home, 42-year-old Magdalena Chun, told police that around 4:30am this morning, she was getting ready to go to Punta Gorda Town to sell pepper at the market when her common-law husband, Fermin Sho, arrived home. The couple had been arguing since Sunday and got into another disagreement. That's when Chun reportedly saw Sho take out a lighter and set her thatch roof on fire. Sho then ran to the roadside to catch a passing bus. The fire spread to the rest of the house, destroying it completely, despite assistance from neighbors. The total value of the loss is estimated at $8,000.
