And Montero isn't the only wanted man the police are currently looking for. They are on the hunt for robbers who targeted an Asian store in Redbank Village. They fled the scene, but their vehicle overturned and they got into a shootout with police. Today, the ComPol told us more about the incident.
Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police "I know that yesterday evening police received information of a robbery at Red Bank village in the Stann Creek district. They were also given description of the vehicle that the culprits were escaping in and the police eventually caught up with the vehicle and a pursue took place. That pursue took the police to 6 miles junction where the vehicle overturned. After overturning, the occupants of the vehicle exited the vehicle and fired shots at the police and made good their escape in the bushes. Police remain in the area up to this morning hoping that the robbers would come out so they can be captured but so far, we have not been able to caught up with them."
Reporter "Sir any caution for persons traversing that area?"
Chester Williams "Well I know yesterday evening OC Dangriga did issue a public caution, warning motorist not to pick up any person or person who may be hitch hiking in that area, as they could potentially be the persons of interest that the police are looking for."
Reporter "The identity of these perpetrators are known?"
Chester Williams "At this time, we have an idea of who they are because the vehicle used is a rental vehicle and we were able to ascertain more or less who the persons are by virtue of who had rented the vehicle, from Belize City."
