And Officer Dawson isn't the only one getting support - so is White Gyal, the German Shepherd who was also shot by a cop yesterday. The family got help from some animal activists to take the dog to the vet - but it was too late. Even if the dog lived, she wouldn't be able to use her leg anymore. And while she would eventually have gotten used to being on three legs, the vert concluded that she had already lost too much blood. It was a crushing realization for the family, since they say "White Gyal" is a part of their family. Today we went back to the home after the family's matriarch had gotten the devastating news.
Juanita Uter, White Gyal Owner
"White Gyal have to be put to sleep, she lost so much blood overnight, because I didn't take her to the vet and If she even goes into surgery, there is a possibility she would not survived, so they had to put her to sleep."

"I understand the bullet shattered white gyal bone."
Juanita Uter, White Gyal Owner

"Shattered her bone and left a lot of bullet fragments, it went in through the shoulder and out through the back. It broke up the bone beyond repair. They cannot put any bandage or anything to help her and she lost a lot of blood. They can't do anything."

"You dog was healthy, she puppies and was nursing, She would have been fine, if the police didn't come in here like that. How does that make you feel?"
Juanita Uter, White Gyal Owner
"It makes me feel bad. They took away one of my human family member. That is an animal, but she is my family. We take care of that dog, we make sure she gets her shots every month, we feed her and deworm her, we take care of that dog. My dog was healthy."

"I know the police took your son and its really his dog. Have you bee able to speak to him at all?"
Juanita Uter, White Gyal Owner
"When I spoke to my son, he didn't know that I had to put down the dog. He knows that they shot her, but he doesn't know the condition."
Reporter
"What do you think will be his reaction?"
Juanita Uter, White Gyal Owner
"He will be mad and he would want to press charges, because he loves his dog. The police came in here and didn't even identify themselves and say police, so that we could hold our dog and it's in our yard. It's not like the dog ran out after them. The dog was lying down, because she had her puppies with her."
The family is considering legal action. The Police spokesperson declined comment today.
