And while the ministry is still looking for a CEO, the KHMH has found its one - she is Chandra Nisbet Cansino - she started work officially today and she has a lot on her plate with the third wave of COVID.

But on top that, she also has to deal with other matters, such as the allegations that Kassman Gill's father has brought against the hospital.

Cecil Gill believes his son would have had a better chance at living if it weren't for the hospital's negligence. He told us that Kassman had begun to improve, but that on September 18th, he noticed something was wrong. Apparently, the ventilator that Kassman was using had malfunctioned and the staff had to use a manually operated device to keep him breathing. His father believes that the time between the malfunction and the staff's reaction caused irreparable brain damage.

We spoke to him via telephone about this claim of negligence.

Voice of: Cecil Gill, father of Deceased

"Giving rise to death, one of the reasons is comatose state. On the 18 September the ventilator that my son was on shutdown and it deprived my son of oxygen and when asked for how long I was told by the doctor that is was about 4 minutes. The Saturday morning I went to the hospital and I saw my son, as I looked at him I know that he was in a coma, because his jaws was clenched tight, they couldn't open it and his eyes were bulged and he would blink every so often like maybe 20 seconds the eyes would blink shut, blink and from the little that I did research and found out that is normally what people in coma do and then I research and found out that it only takes about 4 minutes for the brain to suffer damage, when it is deprived of oxygen. I inquire and they tell me that they have him sedated. He was in that state for about 2 days. Apparently, from the 18 September my son was in a comatose state and the doctors were lying to me all the way up until the death of my son."

We reached out to the hospital's CEO, Chandra Cansino, who is looking into the situation. She told us, quote, "We extend our sincere condolences to the Gill family on the tragic passing of Kassman. We are knowledgeable of the concerns raised by Mr Gill and the KHMH is addressing these with the family." End quote.
