We report now on a woman from Camalote Village in Cayo who claims that a security guard scammed her out of money by promising an expedited immigration document and coming up instead with a fake.

Aura Caal Raymundo, a 30-year-old, Guatemalan Domestic of the Young Bank Area in Camalote, claims that she went to the Immigration Department to apply for permanent residence. She said that she was propositioned by a security guard who allegedly told her that he could speed up the process for 2 thousand, 5 hundred dollars. She claims that she gave him a partial payment of $1,000 upfront, and several days later, she returned to give him the remaining amount of fifteen hundred dollars.

Raymundo told police that this security guard arrived at her home village about 4 days later, and that's when he handed over what appeared to be a Permanent Residence ID card. Unfortunately, she later discovered that this document was a complete fake.

Police have since detained one man pending an investigation, and if and when they bring criminal charges, we'll tell you who he is.
