And the police made another arrest in the murder of Ian Westby, who was fatally shot on October 17th on Tranquil Lane.
Last week, police had arrested Leon Garcia, and on Saturday they also charged 26-year-old Akeem Augustine. ASP Yearwood told us more.
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, BPD
"I know that over the weekend, CIB personnel arrested and charged Akeem Augustine in connection with Ian Augustine's murder that took place over last weekend. Now Augustine will join another person that is already at Kolbe in connection with this same murder. Investigators did their due diligence and it led to Augustine's arrest."

"He was found in Placencia?"
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood
"Well according to the information that was sent to me. We don't know if he was hiding there but he was found in that area. Two persons have been charged and for me to go out there and try to explain a motive, that would prejudice the case. I would leave that up to my able colleagues, to bring that to the public. If I bring it to the public, it could be use in the court."
Today 26-year-old Akeem Augustine was arraigned in the Belize City, Magistrate's Court on a single charge of murder. He appeared unrepresented before Magistrate, Audrey Grinage in Court #6 where no plea was taken from him for the charge of murder. HE was remanded until December 31, 2021.
Augustine is well known to the law. His most recent court day was back in 2019 where he pleaded guilty to being a member of a gang.
