And while Westby didn't survive being shot, a police man is recovering after sustaining stab wounds. 24-year-old Royni Cob went to a friend's house after he came off duty during curfew hours on Saturday morning. They were socializing when a fight broke out and, according to the police, Cob tried to play peacemaker but was injured in the process. Even though he has been discharged, we asked ASP Yearwood if he could get in trouble for gathering at someone else's house during curfew.
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, BPD
"On Saturday, police visited the Corozal Community Hospital where they saw twenty-four-year-old police officer Roy Cobb suffering from multiple stab wounds. It was, the initial investigation revealed that sometime after concluding duty after midnight on Saturday morning. Cobb was in the company of three other persons inside a yard socializing, where another police officer that was present and one of the civilians got into an argument, a struggle ensued, Cobb tried to separate them and this is when one of the persons inflicted, Portillo inflicted the stab wounds to Cobb. Cobb was treated and released from the Corozal Hospital on that same day."

"A decision will have to be made by the Commissioner of Police, of course, because we are out here asking the general public to observe the curfew laws and, like I said, they were inside a yard; whose residence, I cannot say because at the end of the day when you're finished with your tour of duty, if you don't need to be out then you should be home at that time. That still hasn't shied away from the fact that he was harmed and this person could have hurt him even worse. I can tell you that we at the police department do not encourage officers to be out socializing during curfew hours or even if it's your yard. We believe that you should respect the law like everybody else."

"Any of these two parties were intoxicated which may have lead to the injuries?"
ASP Fitzroy Yearwood
"Well, for me go out and say that, I cannot, because it would have to be that we did the necessary tests to prove intoxication, but like I said socializing in a yard we know that it had to involve some level of alcohol."
Cob was released the following day and says he had cut wounds, not stab wounds.
