The investigation into the death of 20-year-old San Pedro mother Abrie Tuyul continues.

As we told you, the pregnant mother's body was found 10 days ago inside the bathroom of her home. Although it appeared that she may have committed suicide, investigators weren't so sure. That's because she was expecting her second daughter to arrive this month. Her neighbors also became suspicious when they heard the sounds of arguing, and they saw her 2 year old daughter sitting at the window crying for almost two hours. When her common-law husband came out of the locked apartment, he reportedly asked for a cigarette before even mentioning that his wife was dead.

Yesterday, a post-mortem was conducted on her body, and at the conclusion, the medical examiner certified her cause of death to be mechanical asphyxia due to hanging. So, where does that leave the investigation into her death?

Here are the Commissioner's comments on that topic:

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"The pathologist following the postmortem classified it as a death investigation and that death was caused by manual asphyxia. That's the exact term used. Manual asphyxia can be caused by several factors. It can be caused by one self in committing suicide and it can be caused by another person which would then put the manner of death as homicide. We have not yet received anything to rule out either suicide or homicide. The pathologist has ask that we do certain things example like to see the area where the incident occurred to verify if there was anything there that the young lady could have use to hang herself which would then make the mechanical asphyxia caused by herself. If there is nothing then the conclusion would have to be that it would have been caused by somebody else, which would then make it homicide or murder, so at this time the category we have it under is still a death investigation, we have not ruled out either homicide or suicide."
