There was a house fire yesterday morning in Belmopan. A bungalow on Chiquibul Street was only partially damaged by the fire, but the lady of the house, Leticia Pacheco got some kind of injury to her neck and was found passed out under a tree in the yard.
The Fee Department's Belize City Station Supervisor told us more:
Kenneth Mortis, Officer in Charge, Belize District Fire Department
"Our counterparts in Belmopan arrived at the location and found fire, smoke emitting from a yellow bungalow structure, the southeastern portion to be exact. Primarily, our main focus is firefighting follow by search and rescue. However, in this case we were never informed of anybody trapped in the building, so we stuck to fire fighting. During that process the common-law husband of Miss Pacheco came home, Mr. Reymundo and he was inquiring about his other half. He made a check of the premises in the back yard where he allegedly found the dog under a coconut tree and not too far was Miss Pacheco who apparently was in an unconscious state as she had suffered from an injury to the throat. What we can confirm that injury was not received as a result of the fire, so it leaves the million dollar question in both the public, the fire department and the police where that injury came from or how did she sustain such an injury."

"Being in an unresponsive in a medical institution she is the only one that can actually finish put the pieces of the puzzle together. However long her recovery stage may be then the fire department hold no bearing on that. We do wish her a speedy recovery and we hope that the injuries isn't as life threatening as it may seem. We can conclude that Miss Pacheco wasn't cooking as we understand that she was just actually relaxing watching TV. Even the remains from the unburnt portion of the stove showed that there wasn't any cooking activities been done. My counterparts did a thorough check of the area to detect any untraceable accelerants. We did not detect any of those, however the fire definitely did not start magically, some person or persons had to have start this fire. The million-dollar question is who and probably why."
Notably, police say that the laceration on Leticia Pacheco's neck could be due to heat exposure.
The house is the property of 59 year old retired teacher Reymundo Sabino.
