Turning to yesterday's murder of 18-year-old Ethan Thompson in Mahogany Heights, Compol Williams told the media this evening that his officers are already pursuing suspects in that case.
As we told you, Thompson, who also went by the nickname "Brains", went out on an early-morning errand to buy tacos for his mother. At around 7 a.m., while he was riding his bicycle back home, when he was shot and killed by an unknown gunman.
Here's what the ComPol had to say about the effort to make an arrest:

"I know that yesterday morning we had received information of a fatal shooting in the Mahogany Heights area. Based on that police responded where they came across the lifeless body of Ethan Thompson, who suffered from a gunshot injury to the body. He was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police have since been canvassing the area gathering information from persons who may have information that could lead to identifying a suspect. We have obtained a number of information and from what we have gathered so far is that this incident stem from a previous incident which occurred on Friday of last week where the two groups had some issues during which shots were fired at one of the particular groups. Police are in the area still in search of those persons who's name is being called as suspects, but you'd know that they may have fled the area to other parts of the country and so we have gotten whims of where they might have gone and so we have also sent police in those areas to look for them. Again, I want to seek the public assistance, any person who may have any information pertinent to this incident to please come forward and share those information with us. As a department while we fight to contain our crime problem, we do appreciate the fact that it is not something that we can do on our own."
As we showed you, his family said that his fatal shooting shocked them because he stayed away from the gang and street influences in their community.
