ACP Marco Vidal - who is Nah's Uncle and has been his commanding officer for over a decade - will have to watch this one form the sidelines. Though his handpicked Strike Team has brought disgrace to the Department, he's been allowed a lateral transfer to the Commander Management Services desk.

Vidal will now take a low profile - a sharp contrast to the past two years or so - when he's been the Commander of Operations, effectively the police department's tip of the spear.

Earlier this year, in February we spoke to him at a drug burning for over a tonne of cocaine. We asked him to speak on crooked cops - and he made sweeping declarations then - not knowing that months later - his elite stake team would be accused of being a breeding ground for such rogues. Here's how he put it then:

Reporter
"Your take on the fact that you know what 3 law enforcement officers were found in possession of these 2 bales. It flies in the face of their duties."

ACP Marco Vidal
"Yes it does and that's why the commissioner has said that it is deplorable, it saddens the department. But we know that this exists. It exist in all security agencies, so our job is to gather the intelligence and get them when in the act, because anything other than that they will say it is just speculation."

Reporter
'What are your reactions when you see police officers being, I think this may be the third time that a lawman is being called up as supposedly being some facilitator in this trans-national operation?"

ACP Marco Vidal
"I think that speaks volume about the work that the police is actually doing, because we have genuine police officers and we have those that are engaging in these kind of activities. So for the police to go after these persons is applauding because we need to go after these persons. There are others, they just need to be exposed and then captured."

Three members of Vidal's team have been charged for involvement in the plane landing.
