On Thursday we told you about the fatal shooting of 27-year-old Dijon Kenrick Foreman in the "Japan" area of Ladyville. Well, much like the weekend killing of Emroy Tracey, police investigators have made a swift arrest.
21-year-old Damion Eric Blake, a resident of Myrtle Wade Crescent who is believed to be the last person Foreman was socializing with, is at the Belize Central Prison. That's after he was arraigned today before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford on the offense of murder.
As we reported, sometime around 7:30 p.m., police went to Blake's home, and they found him behaving nervously. He claimed that someone went to his home and tried to shoot him. The cops searched his yard, and they found Foreman's body. The officers also found a firearm that might have been the murder weapon.
The best information to 7News is that Foreman left his home, which is right around the lane from Blake's house, and that they were socializing on Blake's verandah. Sometime later, neighbors heard the sounds of gunshots and someone in distress. At this time, it is believed that the two - who are known to be friends - had some sort of disagreement which ended in Foreman's fatal shooting.
Court reports are that during his arraignment, when the magistrate was explaining the procedure to his indictment in the Supreme Court, Blake uttered in court that he has proof that he's innocent. He claimed that he called police to come to his aid and that the shooting could have been avoided.
That's when the magistrate explained to Blake that at this time, he need not say anything and that he will have his opportunity to give his version of events in court. His next appearance is set for May 9, 2022.
