And in crime news, a teenager is on remand tonight after he allegedly shot a woman on Curassow Street on Monday night. 18-year-old Shemar Gillet was unrepresented in court when he appeared before Senior Magistrate, Tricia Pitts-Anderson. He was read three criminal offences: two counts of use of deadly means of harm, and one count of wounding.

Before the charges were read, Senior Magistrate Anderson explained to him that due to the nature of the offence, she would not be taking a plea. She also told him that she was unable to grant him bail.

As we reported on Tuesday, the incident occurred around 7:30 Monday night when 30-year-old Joanna Parham was at the corner of Curassow and Gibnut Streets. Anthony Parham had been walking nearby when he was reportedly ambushed from behind by someone who fired a gun in his direction. The gunman missed and Joanna Parham was injured in her right leg and foot.

Gillett is expected to return to court on July 25th.
