He was already charged for rape and then stevedore Denroy Anthony Lopez escaped from police. But he was recaptured trying to get across a river and taken back to court today. Today, appeared before Magistrate Baja Shoman in Court #6 where he was read two offenses, rape and escape from lawful custody. Allegations are that on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 he raped a woman.
No plea was taken from Lopez for the rape since it is an indictable offense, Magistrate Shoman took a plea from him for escape from lawful custody which he pleaded not guilty to.
Due to the nature of the offense, bail was denied and Lopez was remanded until August 19, 2022.
