It's one the fanciest and priciest restaurants in town - and the Riverside Tavern will have to pay a hefty fine for undersized conch. The manager 42-year-old, Isai Ivan Puc was taken to court today before Magistrate Baja Shoman where he was read a single charge of possession of undersized conchs. Specifically, it's 185 undersized conch that was found in the restaurant. On June 7, at about 2:49 p.m., fisheries officers say they found 175 market clean conch not exceeding 3 ounces when they searched the restaurant.
Puc pleaded guilty and was imposed a non-custodial sentence of a fine of $1,000 for the offense of which he must pay by September 30, 2022. Puc was slapped with an additional fine for each undersized conchs at $50 each. Multiply that by 175 for another fine of $8750.00. That's a total of $9,760.00 dollars in fines.
