Before the break you heard the latest on the three murders that happened in the last five days.
But, actually there have been 5 murders in the city in the past 8 days - and as the killings have shown, it's getting dangerous to go around to your friend's house for a round of beers or a game of checkers.
It seems that what's emerging is a pattern of indiscriminate shootings, that send a very specific message.
I took a look back at 7 such murders, all of which happened within the past three months where innocent victims were targeted. Here is that story:
We've said it in a multitude of stories too numerous to count, He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
These 7 victims killed between April and June are just a snapshot of the innocent victims who've lost their lives in conflicts that they themselves had no part in.
Murders in the urban areas usual involve what are call gang combatants. These murders are notable because these people were not in gnags, these people were outside the frame of violence.
Our most recent example happened on Wednesday night when Jordan Bradley went to play chess with old friends in this 11th street yard. What he didn't know is that police had warned residents of a threat.
And it was much the same for Benjamin Hyde Sr because while his son, the notorious Christy Hyde, is a known gang boss, the elder Hyde was just delivering a plate of food to his daughter who lives nearby.
On his way home that he was targeted, likely in retaliation for a murder thaat he had nothing to do with.
He joins two other innocent fathers gunned down in the last three and a half months. One was ambushed on the street, and the other in his very own yard.
And while Hyde was killed on the southside, "the wrong place at the wrong time" is no longer just limited to the few square miles that make up the southside
Glenford Vernon lost his life in the wrong yard on the north side of the city in Buttonwood Bay. He was visiting friends in the aftermath of a standoff and it seems no one told him that he should be prepared to duck and run.
And what about Desmond Budna? He was only in Belize City to attend the graduation of a family member but a killer stalked him on Patridge street in a part of the city that he wasn't known to frequent.
And while the random killings are indeed the worst of the violence, equally sinister are the killings that are used to send messages to gang combatants.
Such was the case of Emir Casimiro. He was driven up to the John Smith road, walked into the bushes, and cruelly killed, reports at the time said, for the purpose of sending a message to a relative.
