Back on June 22nd, we told you about a traffic incident that occurred at the corner of Cleghorn Street and Slaughterhouse Road. At the time, it seemed like a Ford Ranger ran a stop sign, causing a grey Nissan Frontier to collide with it. The impact whipped the Ranger around, which in turn swept three people off their bicycles. What we didn't know is that one of those cyclists later succumbed to his injuries.
And so The driver of the Ranger, 21-year-old Ethan Andrew Matura, an office assistant, was arraigned on charges of manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, driving motor vehicle without due care and attention, and failure to conform to a traffic sign.
Matura appeared before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts Anderson. No plea was taken since the charges are indictable, but he was granted bail in the sum of $8,000 plus 2 sureties of $4,000 each. He was able to meet bail and is due back in court on September 8th, 2022.
