We turn now to the story of a Belize City resident who requires expensive surgery but whose family cannot afford it.
He's 29-year-old Samuel Bailey, a cancer survivor who lives on Boots Crescent. He has been diagnosed with a medical condition known as frontal osteoma. It is a kind of benign bone tumor in which a mass of cells grows onto other healthy tissue, leading to medical complications such as impairment in vision, hearing, and cranial nerve palsies. In Bailey's case, his osteoma has caused him to suffer acute seizures that have caused him to pass out in hazardous circumstances, such as on the street when vehicles were passing by.
The doctors at Belize Healthcare Partners have agreed to perform the surgery that he will need to remove the mass and relieve the pressure on his sinuses and his optic nerve. The problem is that they cannot afford the 9,000-dollar medical procedure, even after persistent fundraising attempts. This evening, Bailey and his sister spoke with our news team about their family's medical hardship and the resulting financial worries:
If you would like to help Samuel Bailey and his family raise the funds, you can reach them at telephone numbers 607-5553 or 207-0635. Additionally, you can make a deposit to his Heritage Bank account number 10210551.
