There was a murder in the area of Antelope Street Extension around 4:20 this afternoon. Jarett Crawford was at home - when apparently someone called him outside - and shot him as he came out to respond. The 36 year old father of 1 was found dead in his yard in his boxer shorts. Now, this is the second murder in the city in about 36 Hours - and this one happened right in the same area that 18 year old Carl Lamb was killed on Monday night.
It's one more troubling flashpoint for an area that is crime ridden - and I just came back from the scene where I spoke to a relative:
Reporter
"How did you find out about this?"
Voice of Cousin of Deceased
"One of our close family friend called and said het daughter just came over and said that they just killed our cousin, he is laying down in the yard, so we just race over, but we were trying to reach him all day and we couldn't get a hold of him. It looks to me like somebody called him, because he was in boxers and a towel over his shoulder and his phone in his hand."
Reporter
"As far as family knows, did he have any dispute with anyone?"
Voice of Cousin of Deceased
"No, he is from home to work hustle and he takes care of his son. He is always with his son. I am shocked and glad that his son wasn't with him today, because he is always with his son."
Reporter
"Did he give any trouble at all?"
Voice of Cousin of Deceased
"In the past when he was younger, yes, for robbery, but that's about it."
Reporter
"Another young man was targeted right around the corner 2 days ago and they say that it was some dispute over a girl. Do you think that could at all be related?"
Voice of Cousin of Deceased
"I wouldn't know. I mean he is my cousin, he takes me to school, he takes me to braid my hair and to see him so, I didn't expect him to die this way, because he doesn't mess with people."
Crawford was the father of one child. We'll have more on this story on Monday.
