They appeared in a menacing video that went viral in August of last year - and, after months of declaring their innocence in charges brought by police, the Baptist brothers and their associates have now pleaded guilty.
They were charged with being a member of a criminal gang and participating in a video that promotes gang activity. Today in court Brandon Baptist, Hubert Baptist, Sheldon Grinage and John Grinage appeared in Magistrate Court #1 before Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazer and changed their plea to GUILTY.
For the "being the member of a gang" charge they were all given a 18 month sentence. From that 18 months they were all given a 1 year suspended sentence on condition that they are not to be arrested, charged nor convicted for any offence during the 1 year period, or they will be sent back to prison to serve out a 1 year sentence.
For the video, they were each fined $1,500.00 dollars to be paid by the end of the year, or in default face 18 months imprisonment.
