38-year-old Eufemia Garcia is reported to be in critical but stable condition after he was shot to his lower back by an intruder at his home in Yo Creek village, Orange Walk District.

Garcia along with an employee were upstairs eating and watching a movie when they heard voices downstairs. Garcia went to check who had entered the home but that's when he was shot.

Today our colleagues from CTV3 spoke to his sister and his employee to try and find out what happened and what the possible motive could have been.

Voice of, Sister of Eufemio Garcia
"I received the call at 8:30, about 8:30. They told me that they had just shot my little brother."

"Do you know how many shots he received?"

Voice of, Sister of Eufemio Garcia
"He got one, it's one, one that penetrated him."

Reporter
"So, he didn't get any more?"

Voice of, Sister of Eufemio Garcia
"But they shot at him three times, it was three shots."

Reporter
"Was anyone with him in his house when this happened?"

Voice of, Sister of Eufemio Garcia
"One of his workers was with him who was helping him to paint and clean the house. One of them was with him."

Reporter
"Did they see anything?"

Voice of, Sister of Eufemio Garcia
"Well, he says he only heard that they spoke and then he peeked and went down the stairs and he heard something not like shots because he was watching TV as well. He just peeked and didn't see anything. He didn't see anything. Well, right now from what they are telling me he is stable but critical and he urgently needs blood 12 units, 12 bags."

Fransico "Pancho" Ramon Chan, Eufemio Garcia's employee
"I was eating and after I'd finished, he went down to see who it was and when I heard the shot, I was watching the movie, they spoke. He went down and I stayed upstairs. I just heard the shot and well I didn't want to go down because he was screaming for me, and I didn't want to go down because I figured if the guy was still there he was going to hit me too and then he came up the stairs. He came up by himself and when I look at him here, I said BITCH I told him to wait I'll go because I had my cycle outside. I told him, boy, wait you're not going to die. I said I'm going to look for your mom and your dad so that they can help me to get you in the truck."

Police have a known suspect who they are looking for.
