And while those men have been convicted, the family of Tanesha Banner wants to know if the accomplice to her shooting will ever face justice.
Tonight, the 33-year-old shooting victim remains hospitalized. She is currently in a coma in the ICU, where she has been since Monday.
Banner was a victim of "wrong place, wrong time" when she was shot while traveling back to her home in Double Head Cabbage from Burrell Boom. She was at concert when an argument broke out between the man she was with, Coast Guardsman, Lee Busano, and the shooter, Veris Ventura. Ventura got into a red SUV and followed them, firing shots at the vehicle, hitting Banner, Busano, and another 18-year-old male passenger. Busano then pulled out his own licensed firearm and shot back, killing Ventura.
And while Busano and Baptist were quickly treated, Banner was caught in the head, and is still fighting for her life. Her sister told us that they are just trying to speak with her from her bedside, begging her to wake up, if only for the sake of her son. In a Facebook post, a relative said, quote, "I cry for her, I wonder if she's hungry because I know she love(s) to eat. I wonder if the person who paid to hurt her sleep(s) at night... My heart aches to see you like this but I will hold all faith that you will make it." End quote.
The Double Head Village Council is having a barbecue sale this Saturday to help pay for her medical bills.
Meanwhile, while Ventura is in the morgue, police have yet to arrest the driver of the red SUV.
