On Sunday morning at around 2:00 am, Orange Walk police patrolling Aurora Street responded to what appeared to be a sexual assault in progress. Their attention was drawn to a a black SUV because the horn was blowing. The patrol team went to investigate and when they got closer, they heard a woman screaming. They looked inside the vehicle, and saw a man on top of the semi-nude female, allegedly punching her as she screamed for help. The police officers pulled on the SUV's door, but it was locked and the attacker refused to open it. The cops had to force their way into the vehicle, which is when the man allegedly tried to escape, but he was detained. A female officer was called to escort the victim to the hospital. The male suspect was detained but the woman declined to press any charges. So, today, police charged 33 year old Martin Jackson a labourer of CET Site in Belize City for Resisting arrest and 2 counts of Assaulting a Police Officer. He was arraigned in court, pleaded not guilty and was remanded to prison.
