There was a stabbing and shooting in the heart of Placencia village last night which has left one man hospitalized and the other shaken up.
Just after 10:00, 54 year old businessman Richard Labonte, was leaving his restaurant, named Rick's Cafe when 30 year old Rudlph Rudon approached him and started an argument.
Labonte says he tried to walk down the stairs to get away from him - but he says that Rudon pulled a knife and stabbed him in the arm. Labonte reached for his licensed 9 millimeter pistol and shot Rudon in the foot. Police responded and found him with 7 gunshot wounds around both his knees. They recovered 8 expended shells from the scene along with the pistol and the knife.
Labonte was treated and released from the village polyclinic while Rudon was later transported to the Southern Regional hospital for further medical attention.
