And while the police are making progress in the Libertad murder, the latest killing in Belize City is proving a bit more difficult. That's because the killer took advantage of the dark and rainy night to kill 18 year old Trevor Thompson when no witnesses could see.
But while there isn't a confirmed motive as yet, the ComPol said they're also looking at the angle of it being related to Thompson's torture two years ago.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"We know that prior to the murder, there was a shooting within the vicinity and that shooting may have been what led to the subsequent murder of Mr Thompson. And this can trace all the way back to a previous murder couple years ago, we believe that it had a lot to do with that, we do have suspects that we believe are involved but again it happened in the dark of night and so the police were not out as they would have and I guess the shooter took advantage of that opportunity, not much people were out to have been able to see what took place and so getting the identity of the person who is responsible at this time is extremely difficult."

Reporter:
"Was his case still before the courts, the one that occurred in conch shell bay when he was bullied?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Yes that matter is still before the court where Oliver Sutherland was charged in respect to an incident against him. We have been made to understand that he had received threats from certain persons in respect of that matter and so that's also a possibility that we're looking at."
