And we also asked the Commissioner about other reliable reports we have received that SPU vehicles are being used for private, non duty related tasks - and that some vehicles are not available to rank and file officers.

The Commissioner called that mischief and said that it is in fact the opposite: he says the Unit Commander, Aaron Gamboa actually sacrifices his personal vehicle for the unit:

Cherisse Halsall:
"There are also credible reports that vehicles assigned to SPU also disappear into personal use, can you comment?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"I don't know, does somebody have an issue with the commander of SPU, I, I, I don't know, um like I said those vehicles assigned to SPU majority of them are in Belize CIty. As a matter of fact commander of SPU used to have a vehicle assigned to him and currently he has none`, and he had asked me and I said to him I am not going to give him one because the vehicles are more needed out on the streets and so when he needs to go anywhere he will have to use the one that is in Belmopan, that is assigned for Special operations, other than that I don't see how they could say vehicles are being misused, the other

vehicles they do have, are the ones that are assigned to the composite patrols, you have the Western composite, the southern composite, we have the coastal road composite and those vehicles cannot leave those areas without the permission or knowledge of commander of operations. So, it isn't even Commander SPU who dictates how those vehicles move around, people need to stop creating mischief."
