And Loria also gave us an update on the soldier who was shot in the buttocks last November. It happened in the Chiquibul Forest and both police and BDF were trying to ascertain where the bullet came from - whether it was from across the Guatemalan border, or from the gun of a fellow soldier. Today, Loria said there are still no concrete answers.

Brig. Gen. Azariel Loria, Commander, B.D.F.

"That one is still open. We did our investigation. Our investigation revealed that circumstantial. We do not have the ballistics and what not. There was something around in the soldier's inside and we could not factually determine - extract the round in order to find something that somebody did it intentionally. But the case is still open and we continue to look for information."

Reliable reports suggest to us that it was a case of friendly fire - meaning he was shot by a BDF bullet.
