The BNTU chronicles continue to unfold after president Ruth Shoman took office on July 1st. Instead of a warm BNTU welcome, Shoman encountered resistance from a faction of union members, who questioned the legitimacy of her presidency. Today, they sent out another press release, again questioning Shoman.

The release says that upon her arrival into office Shoman was asked to provide proof of her employment, as required by BNTU by-laws. However the request was overturned by the then president Elena Smith, on the grounds that Shoman does not have to prove that she is in active service.

Today's release again demands that Shoman adheres to the BNTU's laws and submits her employment letter.

On the other hand, an official statement was made by the Ministry of education today, MOECST welcomed Ruth into office quoting "We look forward to a constructive, respectful, and productive working partnership with President Shoman, the Executive Committee and Council of Management."
