And while the PM waits on the AG – it seems he's in no rush to find out what's up with the Commissioner of Police and all those gun licenses he issued for murder victim Ricardo Borja.

It's been making the news for the past few nights – as 7News has shown confirmed evidence that Borja got 10 gun licensees in just 17 months between 2021 and 2022.

The PM told us – it's news to him!:

Reporter:
"Because it's seemingly that he provided ten gun licenses to Borja, which is an alleged misconduct."

John Briceno, Prime Minister

"I'm first time hearing this. So it is certainly something we have to take a look into."

Reporter:
"Have you are have you ever asked the Compol to facilitate someone else with the gun license?"

John Briceno, Prime Minister
"No."

Reporter:
"PM how Long, will the investigation into..."

John Briceno, Prime Minister
"By the way I. I do not support guns in this country. I do not own a gun. And if it was left to me and I got into trouble with some members from cabinet, I would ban all gun holding guns in this country. That's a that's a strong buck, but that's what I feel. But our members in cabinet might feel differently."

"But I would ban guns in Belize. Look at what has happened over the years. This fallacy that by giving people guns to be able to protect themselves is not working. Because what do they do? The criminals, they go and hold you up. They theif your gun and then they use it to commit crime. So I would ban it if it was left up to me."

Reporter:
"But if the Compol did provide Borja with these ten gun licenses, should there be some type of penalty for him?"

John Briceno, Prime Minister
Well, there's something I don't know. So I would have to take a look if "it happened. And what were the circumstances?"
