And in one more note from today's Summit where they spoke about the Blue, Green and Orange economy – one thing no one seems to talk about is the grey economy. It accounts for hundreds of millions of dollars floating around in the economy – and those funds come from narcotrafficking, contraband, money laundering, and other dark arts of the underworld. It's ugly stuff, but a major part of the economy – one that the PM wants to snuff out:

Reporter:
"Speaking of the blue, green and orange economy, though, what about the grey economy, which includes narco money and contraband money that drivers of the economy. Those that comes in are a major driver."

John Briceno, Prime Minister

"It's just it's it's illegal. And we're trying to do everything to stamp them out. If you look at all the legislation that we're doing to make it more difficult for them to be able to move their money, that speaks volumes. Right now, we're working even with the with the U.S. government to help us to strengthen our work in trying to keep the narcos or I want to use a better word. I think organized crime is a better word on the narcos because we have no evidence. The organized crime from from from Mexico, from across the border to come into Belize, that speaks to what we are accomplishing. We want to get rid of them. I would say what bothers me, what worries me most of these people get into Belize and they held on and have roots in Belize."

"It would be very difficult to get them all. So we need to do everything possible to get them out. And I plead to all Belizeans do not get into any kind of relationship with these people. So thank you very much, everybody. Thank."
