And the man leading that unit is ASP Aaron Gamboa. He was in the news last week when whistleblower Brady Tillett came forward and accused him of misconduct.
So is his continued leadership of that specialized unit a problem for the Commissioner? On the contrary, the Compol doubled down on support for him:
Jules Vasquez
"Are you concerned that the commander of the SPU, Mr Gamboa, who is under serious professional accusation of misconduct,. Are you concerned that his leadership may be compromised because of these allegations?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"I am sure delegations Against Mr Gamboa has no merit. I can tell you that for sure. But again, let that person who went and give you information make his official complaints and then we'll investigate. But from what I know having listened to the interview and having done some verification, I can say definitively that what he have said to you is not the truth. Um, In terms of Mr. Gamboa's leadership of the SPU. Mr. Gamboa is one of the strongest commanders we have who commanded one of our Operational units."
