As you heard before the break, the Commissioner of Police is doubling down on support for the head of the SPU, Aaron Gambo - even though allegations of misconduct have been made against him.

But what does the commissioner have to say about a two thousand dollars money transfer to Gamboa on May 11th from a gun dealer?

With all that is alleged to happen between gun dealers and police - it surely does raise an eyebrow - but not to the compol. He says he sees nothing irregular about it:

Jules Vasquez
"Would you be concerned if you saw a money transfer from one of the gun dealers, a well known gun dealer. to an individual, which says "For Mr. Gamboa" - an individual in the SPU?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"If I, If you, would per se, have some US currency. and, I need the US. And you give me the US. And I transfer the Belize currency to you in payment of the US that you have sent to me, is that a crime? Not just because we see a transaction means that we must jump to conclusions."

Jules Vasquez
"But it's a transaction with a gun dealer."

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"It doesn't matter. It could have been a transaction with anybody per se. So long as this the source of where the funds is coming from is legitimate. Nothing, what is there to say a fun dealer cannot transfer money to you?"

Jules Vasquez
"It's suspicious sir."

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"It cannot be, Mr Vasquez. I'm not going to, okay, delve into this too much because I think Mr Gamboa have indicated, uhm, his intent to take legal actions but we cannot just, because we see certain things we just, come up with our own assertions and defame people, we have to be extremely careful as to what we do and who we listen to."

"The young man in question that you interviewed, I wish you would know exactly who he is, but that's a matter for you and Mr. Gamboa to deal with."

Jules Vasquez
"Will you return his phones?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"The phones, I don't know why you ask if I will return the phones because I don't have them."

Jules Vasquez
"Okay."

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"From what I was made to understand after I heard your interview, I made inquiries about the phones and I was told that there is a process that is being done to apply to the Supreme Court to extract information from the phones because I believe he was charged for, kept unlicensed ammunition and it was GI3 who went and conducted operation based on information that they had obtained."

"There may be information in the phone that they believe and strengthen the case as it relates to the unlicensed ammunition charge as well as other information that I am told that may relate to plane landings."

As for the alleged contraband explosives that Brady Tillett says he took to Gamboa's home earlier this year - one of Gamboa's officers told us that actually happened two years ago, and that he is the one who took the explosives there because he was legitimately transporting it form Spanish lookout when it started to rain, and it was then taken to the commander's house briefly for shelter. That officer says the explosives were authorized for work on the Coastal Highway. Tillett sticks by his story that he went to Arenal for the explosives earlier this year.
