For the past two years the KHMH has been functioning without a working CAT scan machine. The absence of this basic diagnostic machine has cumulatively cost patients hundreds of thousands of dollars as they have had to go to private facilities to get these tests done. And it also affects doctors at the country's national referral hospital who are limited in their ability to make basic diagnoses.
But, earlier this year, there was hope. But that was in June. Four months later, it's still "cyan reach yet!"
But, it's coming alright. Today the Minister gave us an update on the procurement, assuring us that they have managed to acquire one of the best possible machines:
Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health and Wellness

"KHMH Let me give you an update because the last update I have they are finalizing the electrical in the room. The CAT scan is already on its way so the CAT scan should be In country any time now so what the supplier had to do is ensure that the technical aspect of, they have been in constant communication with their technical people at the KHMH. The building has already been prepared and there were some issues with the electrical wiring so that is what they are finalizing. I understand that it's now complete and now they are awaiting the CT scan to come into the country and it will be installed and should be ready to go sometime soon. But KHMH is getting a top quality Fuji brand CT scan the one that will be the best in the country."
