And while there are no named suspects for that murder, one suspect is detained tonight for the triple murder in San Pedro town - which also claimed the life of a 3 year old.

Michael Brown turned himself into island police with his attorney this afternoon - but his alleged accomplice, Christian Espat has another story.

Jules Vasquez tells us why San Pedro's most wanted may once again end up being its most elusive:

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"At this time, we're looking for two individuals. That is Michael Brown and Christian Espat."

It's not the first time for Espat to be Belize's most wanted. He flamed to national prominence in 2019 when Mario Graniel and Dr Gary Swank were killed. He was named as the prime suspect - which is when he released this statement:

Christian Espat,

"I Gwen and give weh myself because I am innocent of this. Me dont have anything to do with this. As usual they always charged me for no reason. That always happens to me."

And it happened again when Mirza Morales was killed in the Pine Ridge area in May of this year. Mirza, was Mario Graniel's common law on San Pedro. Again Espat was the prime suspect and he turned himself into police: His girlfriend spoke up for him at the time:

Voice of: Espat's Common Law
"He was not even in country when this incident happened. He was out of the country. How do I know? I was with him all this time. What he went to do - deal with some family stuff and seek medical attention."

And this time around they are saying the same - this is some kind of head scan done in Chetumal in Monday October 23rd - the murder is alleged to have happened on that same day just after midnight.

And Espat has now released this statement:

Christian Espat,

"I am sending this video to the media to clear my name, because the police is accusing me of a triple murder I didn't commit. The reason I am not in the island at this moment, because last week Thursday the police torture, threatened me to the point that I no longer could take the pain. I am not running and I am not hiding from the law. I just came to the doctor to see if the police didn't do any permanent damage to my head."

"I don't know why they are accusing me of this triple murder, because I know I didn't have no misunderstanding and no problem with Delmar Rodriguez."

Reports say he will again turn himself into police on Thursday. Police were not able to charge him for any of the previous murders for which he was most wanted - we'll have to wait and see if they find enough evidence to do so this time.
