And while Verde's family believes it's a case of domestic violence that turned deadly, for another woman, she's lucky to still be alive after she was attacked in her Maxboro home by her ex-boyfriend.
52-year-old Dean Halliday had a restraining order against him, taken out by 42-year-old Farah Bonner. According to Bonner's family, the two had a violent relationship, and Bonner tried multiple times to get out, and to keep her location a secret.
But Halliday tracked her down and attacked her and one of her daughters. In the middle of the incident though, Halliday himself was killed.
Initial police reports say that it was Bonner's daughter, 25-year-old Feleecia Kerr, that stabbed him, but her aunt denies those claims. She spoke with us to clarify the situation today.

"My sister had a restraining order against him several times. It has been a domestic situation and whenever she tried to get away from him, she would have to move. So this time she said it was it and she moved way up to Maxboro from the city and beg everyone who knew them not to disclose her location to this person. For some reason this person found out where she was based on the dogs."
"According to my family information that was there, her children, the Saturday what happened is that they had the fence locked to secure themselves and earlier he was there, but they did not let him inside the house. He went and he parked his vehicle at a niece of his in the vicinity where he walked to her location. We have camera footage that show him walking and hopping her fence. When he hopped the fence and he lay waited them, you see on the footage he was circling around the house, the windows listening to detailed information and I guess he probably heard her telling her children they would go to the shop when it opens around 5. That's when she received - I can't tell you what all transpired, but I know that as he enters the premises, he started inflicting wounds to my sister."
"My sister have multiple wounds under her chin where she had to receive stiches for, she got stabs one centimetre away from where she could have been dead at that given moment. She has several stabs under her neck. She has cut wounds on her face. Her lip is burst open. She has cuts between her fingers from holding the blade. She has stab wounds on her chest or cuts. I don't know the details, but I could tell you that's what happened."
"Her daughter, they are saying that she did not do that because she did not have any weapon. She actually got inflicted wounds to her breast, the side of her breast. She is stabbed in her breast and her chest and her side, on wherever other parts of the body. They were severely hurt, because this person whatever is his reasoning, I know he would tell her that she cannot leave him or he will kill her. But you never really think those things."
"They are not well. That's for sure, They are totally traumatized and this is going to take them a very long time to heal from this situation, I mean this is something I would never wish on anybody."
Now Bonner's sister says her family feels unsafe since one of Halliday's relatives reportedly threatened them.
In the meantime, Bonner and Kerr remain in police custody, despite their injuries.
