Woman Robbed Of Vehicle In Belmopan

Saturday night at around 9:00 in Belmopan, a 59 year old woman was robbed of her Toyota Hilux. She was on her way home from church with two passengers and was dropping off one of them, an 18 year old female, on Pumpkin Lane in the J&W area. When she arrived at the address, two robbers appeared. One of them who wore a mask told her to get out of the vehicle. When she did he pointed a pistol at her, grabbed her purse and she fell to the ground. When she fell, he struck her to the left side of her face. She got up and dashed to a nearby home, and while running away she heard the truck drive off with her two passengers inside. Shortly after, the men robbed them of their cell phones, and while on the Farmers Express Road the carjackers ordered them out of the Hilux, and sped off leaving them on the road. Police mobilized a response of all Western Region formations including Quick Response mobiles from San Ignacio and Benque Viejo, along with Mobile Interdiction Team. They found the Toyota Hilux deserted one mile from Buena Vista in the Spanish Lookout. They also recovered the driver's phone.
