It's been three days since alleged killer Hildebrand Codd escaped from police custody along with Jessie Mejia. Mejia was caught the same day, but Codd is still at large. Today the police made an appeal to the public for assistance in finding him. ACP Hilberto Romero also explained that it was a breakdown in protocol by the officers that led to their escape.

ACP Hilberto Romero, OCED
"In regards to the escapees, we have still not captured Hildebrand Codd, we are seeking the public's assistance to help us to locate this person, if anyone sees him, you can call 911 or 922 tips and give the information and we will act upon the information. We have several checkpoints countrywide and several operations continue to be carried out to try to capture him but so far he has not been captured."

Courtney Menzies:
"Do you guys believe that he is trying to leave the country?"

ACP Hilberto Romero, OCED
"We are not certain, we continue to do checks and searches but nothing so far."

Reporter:
"This is the second escapee within a month, how can police ramp up their efforts to safeguard these prisoners?"

ACP Hilberto Romero, OCED
"We have reviewed our strategies and yes we are putting things in place to prevent this from occurring. In the case with the incident at the Supreme Court, these officers have been placed on charge and they will be dealt with because we found negligence on their behalf in regards to this escape."

Courtney Menzies:
"Can you say where the lapse in protocol was?"

ACP Hilberto Romero, OCED
"I will not go into the specifics, we have found yes that they were negligent and that is what cause this escape."

Codd is known to have family in the Orange Walk District.
