Just about a year ago - Delson Paguada was one of the men accused of a very shocking murder. Police say he was one of the shooters in the murder of tourist, J'Bria Bowen. She was killed in downtown San Pedro, right near the Central Park. It was a war between island drug gangs, and the 23 year old nurse - out celebrating a birthday with her family - was caught in the indiscriminate cross fire.
Police launched an aggressive manhunt and within days charged Delson Paguada and Lucio Salazar for the murder.
Paguada's mother maintained throughout that her son was at home when it happened and could not have been involved. And she has been vindicated. Police have dropped the charge against Delson Paguada saying the DDP has so directed - presumably because there is insufficient evidence.
But, Paguada, as we reported earlier this week, remains in prison after he was recently sentenced to 24 years for the murder of Henry Jex. Information to this newsroom is that the true killers have not been charged and one of them is from Xcalak, Mexico.
