A tourist drowned earlier today at the Split in Caye Caulker Village after going for a swim at the split. 76 year old Steven Kurenitz - an American retiree of Minnesota was found floating unresponsive in the water, just a couple minutes after he submerged.

Emergency services performed CPR on Kurenitz but he could not be revived. No physical injuries were observed and no foul play is suspected.
