A Costa Rican Conman who ran up a bill of 27 grand at a high end resort in Placencia while posing as a US tourist, is now accused of doing the same in San Pedro - allegedly using another bogus identity - this one Colombian.

The General Manager of Villa Abrazos Resort in San Pedro filed a report with Police on Tuesday saying that a man claiming to be Edwin Avendano, arrived at the resort on Friday, February 23rd, 2024, presenting a picture of a Colombian passport on his cell phone as identification. Under the guise of Avendano, the guest secured an oceanfront suite for nine days, and then locked in an additional suite and service room for his alleged associates and so called security personnel, totaling $47,659.50 USD.

When pressed for payment, the shady guest claimed he could only arrange a wire transfer. He agreed to send the funds to one of the resort owners in the UK. Providing banking details, Avendano supplied screenshots of pending transactions, totaling $38,211.81 British pounds, assuring the manager that the transfer would be completed by Monday, February 26th, 2024.

However, suspicions arose when the promised funds failed to materialize. The total outstanding amount, including charges for food and alcohol, amounted to $50,104.46 USD.

San Pedro Police have since detained the supposed Colombian national, Avendano with the Costa Rican nationality documents of Christopher D Angelo Alvarado Marchena, the same guy who owes Itza'ana resort in Placencia 17 thousand dollars.. When police found him yesterday he also had 800 dollars in counterfeit US currency and two small ziplock bags with cocaine.

He is detained pending multiple charges.
