And while the CWU looks satisfied with that negotiation - they have no joy coming for the Belmopan and Belize City councils. The life of both those councils are about to expire and they still have not signed a new collective bargaining agreement.
Today, the union president said ti is a promise broken:
Leonora Flowers, CWU President
"The other matters that we have are the two city councils that still have our members waiting and waiting and waiting for the CBA that needs to be signed. I don't know that there's enough time now, but at least for the Belize City Council the Mayor in a meeting in September had said he wants to close it by December and yet we are still here. Our members have not seen a signed CBA as yet."
Jules Vasquez
"The Mayor's last day of authority is Friday is tomorrow."
Leonora Flowers, CWU President
"Unfortunately for our members that's a promise that has not been fulfilled."
