Tonight residents of the nation's capital are trying to come to grips with an unbelievable, unprecedented broad daylight mass shooting. It happened at the Belmopan Market across from Social Security around 3:30 when a gunman targeted a family of 4. Tonight, two of them, a mother and child are dead.

Reports are that a man of Nigerian descent targeted a caucasian family which was buying ice cream at the Market. The gunman took out a 9 millimeter pistol and opened fire on them.

The wife ran, but the shooter followed her, gunning her down. He then turned his attention to the two children who were accompanying their mother. He chased them down and opened fire on them. One of them was fatally injured. The mass shooting event caused public terror where market goers had to dash for safety.

The gunman - who reportedly owns a licensed firearm then went to the police station and turned himself in. Tonight, he is in custody.

And what would motivate such a heinous attack? Reports say the shooter had a personal, or perceived grievance against the family.
