But while they had a big win, three time councillor and former deputy mayor, Allan Pollard, seemed a bit down when we caught up with him Wednesday night. Though the results weren't officially announced yet, it was clear his slate had won convincingly. We chalked it up to a disappointing loss in Queen's Square because, it seems, while he is beloved by the city - shown by the fact that he topped the polls - the constituency that has his heart won't return the favor.

But today he said he's not giving up hope, and while he must focus on his work as a councillor, he is still active in Queen's Square.

Allan Pollard, Councillor-Elect, Belize City
"I like to keep my options open. For hope, there's always hope in anything. For Queen's Square, I've working tirelessly in that area. This election was a bit different because being that now I'm a bit senior, I had to offer myself in many different ways, in different areas and I understand that assignment and I have had the privilege to work closely with the steering committee to ensure that we make sure that the team is in the best position possible and that means spending a lot of time in a lot of areas other than your own. And you know, we pulled through, the mayor could attest to it too, we both held on to visions and see it through until Election Day that we weren't involved in before so it was a bit of sharing our skills and ourselves with many of the Southside constituencies so that worked out so when we looked at it and we looked at the number from Wednesday, what I did in Queen's Square was exactly what I was supposed to do and when you look at the grand scheme of things and how everything played out with the overall numbers. That division is extremely difficult by any measure but my team, what we did, how we came out was exactly what we needed to happen and we are significantly underfunded and we all know that the Barrow dynasty is nothing to play with when it comes to coins so we don't take it for granted, we don't take those people lightly, I mean it's unfortunate that a lot of the decision making for that small community happens with outsiders which really hinders the development of the community but I'm still there as the standard bearer, I'm still in support, I'm still working, we still have an active office that we opened about a month ago so we're working and for me, my job overall right now and my priority is the city so I'm not limited to one single constituency, I have to be available for all ten so that is the exact mentality that'm going for future elections to come."
